Founded in 1999, Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition (PRWC) is dedicated to the protection and restoration of our most valuable natural resource – water. It is your local non-profit community based organization which uses science, research and educational outreach to safeguard our rivers and drinking water supply.
With your support, we provide educational programs, work closely with local officials and others to develop sustainable water and land use policies, and provide science-based assistance. Your gift is impactful today and for future generations. Programs and Events Youth Conservation Corps and Internships - summer employment opportunities for students to gain conservation experience and knowledge while improving the watershed. Woodbury Earth Day - the largest Earth Day celebration in Connecticut. River Ramblers Guided Hike Series - exploring the history of the Pomperaug River and its dynamic nature. Stream Stewards - supporting the equipment, materials, training, and oversight of community based restoration projects. Research and Monitoring - collecting and reporting water quality data to fulfill both state and local monitoring objectives. Advocacy - bringing together stakeholders to safeguard local rivers and drinking water supplies. Education & Outreach - underscoring our collective roles as stewards of the environment through programs, seminars, presentations, exhibits, and materials.
