Merwinsville Hotel Restoration, Inc.

The Merwinsville Hotel Restoration is a non-profit organization founded in 1971 and is located in a small hamlet of New Milford. For almost the past 50 years, our mission has been to continue the restoration of one of the last standing track-side station hotels east of the Mississippi (which opened its doors in 1843!) We hold several events throughout the year to not only raise money, but to showcase a building that is unique (check out our third floor ballroom!) and historical. Through tremendous volunteer and local fundraising efforts conducted over the years, the Hotel has been saved from certain destruction. You should check out our website for some pretty scary “before” pictures (and some awesome "after" pictures)! Some of our “hotel happenings” include our annual Columbus Weekend Arts and Fine Crafts Show celebrating its 30th year, Christmas Extravaganza, Spring Art and Fine Crafts Show, wine tasting, our recently added movie/book club, “Reel” Readers of the Merwinsville Hotel, and several other events sprinkled throughout the year. All these diverse events makes our "hidden gem of a building" the social, cultural, and educational center for the community.
We're getting very close to picking a contractor to start work on our third floor ballroom. We have some significant structural issues that we're addressing, and we'd like to earmark any monies collected during "Give Local" toward that project. Thank you!
