Litchfield Historical Society
The Litchfield Historical Society is dedicated to telling Litchfield’s stories through its museum, research library and historic house. The Litchfield History Museum invites visitors to explore the evolution of a small New England town through its exhibits, hands-on areas and public programs. The Tapping Reeve House & Law School takes visitors on a journey through the life of a real student from the early 19th century. The Helga J. Ingraham Memorial Library houses information about Litchfield's 280 years of growth and change as reflected through the papers, publications, photographs, and ephemera of local residents, homes, businesses, institutions and organizations.
Support through Give Local is crucial to bringing you and your community interesting exhibitions and creative educational programs. Your participation in this important endeavor enables us to realize our mission in new and exciting ways. LHS uses objects, documents, paintings, buildings, landscapes, stories, and literature to engage our neighbors and visitors—young and old—and give them a greater understanding and appreciation of their history and community. Your support, at the level that works for you, is greatly appreciated. The Historical Society receives no funding from the Town of Litchfield. Our budget largely comes from your generosity. Your gift makes so much possible!
