The Shrine of Saint Anne is one of the most beautiful examples of French Gothic and Italian Renaissance architecture in CT. It is a Waterbury landmark, easily seen from the intersection of Routes 8 and 84. It was damaged by two fires in the 1970s; due to financial constraints at the time rather than restoring the interior to its former splendor, it was covered with gray paint. Interest in restoring the building was renewed in 2005. The Friends of Saint Anne is an independent group of devoted area citizens who assist in fundraising for the restoration of the magnificent fine art detail, stenciling, and carved woodwork of the Shrine. We invite you to tour the Shrine on the first Sunday of each month at 11:30 a.m. from September through June .
We ask you to be part of this historic endeavor through your donation. Funds raised during Give Local will be used to continue the restoration work of this magnificent building.
