The Connecticut Humane Society (CHS) is the leading resource in the state for companion animal welfare, enriching the lives of families and communities through adoption services, medical care, education, and prevention of cruelty. With pet wellness and adoption centers in Westport, Waterford, and Newington and a low-fee public veterinary clinic in Newington, CHS is independent of national organizations and does not receive any state aid. 100% of every dollar raised goes directly to the pets. In 2016, over 300 families from Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills benefited from CHS’ services. This includes: - placing 136 pets into local, loving homes, - assisting 79 families who could no longer keep their pets, - delivering free medical care to 44 animal control pets (from spay/neuter to complex surgeries), and - providing low-fee, affordable veterinary care to 60 of your neighbors through CHS’ Fox Memorial Clinic.
Will you help heal local pets – inside and out – and transform families’ lives? CHS strives to find a loving family for every pet and does not euthanize for time limit, space, breed, or age, and is proud of its 96% placement rate. Whether a pet needs surgery, medicine, or training, CHS helps pets thrive. All CHS pets are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, and CHS offers this and other medical support to pets in the care of municipal animal control at no charge. Your support is critical in finding homes for unwanted pets, and also ensures that pets at risk of losing their homes stay with the families who love them. Funds raised during Give Local will support the programs of the Connecticut Humane Society that benefit pets and families living right in your neighborhood.
