Community Culinary School of Northwestern Connecticut
of Matching Remaining
The Community Culinary School provides unemployed and underemployed individuals with culinary job and life skills training that leads to life-changing experiences. While learning valuable skills in the culinary arts, our students also help feed the hungry within our community as all food prepared in class is donated to the New Milford Food Bank.
100% of funds will be used to continue to provide student support. The impact of these sponsorships support 4 main areas: (1) Culinary Training & Opportunity: Under the supervision of accomplished culinary experts, students participate in a 12-week session to receive both culinary and life skills, allowing them to overcome past barriers to employment and cultivate their professional experience. (2) Internships & Real World Experience: During the culinary training, students are placed at restaurants and other food service operations to gain field experience and enhance their training. (3) Job Placement & Security: Students graduate with bright prospects, as our track record indicates: 96% job placement rate; 95% job retention rate; 100% of graduates have received ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification. (4) Feeding Our Local Community: Food produced in classes is distributed to the hungry in the community via the New Milford Food Bank, serving 165 households weekly.
